Mechanical Couplers - Barlock Coupler Systems
BarLock's patented couplers are available in two versions, the S-Series and the longer L-Series. Bar-Lock couplers are manufactuered int he USA of seamless hot-rolled steel tube conforming to ASTM A-519 specification, with minimum tensile strength exceeding 100,000 psi. The couplers utilize a combination of lockshear bolts and heat-treated internal serrated rails to create a mechanical bond that exceeds industry requirements for mechanical butt splicing of rebar.

The serrated rails, which extend the lenght of the tube to "cradle" and grip the rebar, are welded at the ends of the tube to maintain their alignment. As the bolts are tightened, they embed into the rebar. The serrated rails also embed into the rebar and the interior owall of the tube.
Bar-Lock couplers are designed to perform when bars are "fixed" in position, or when the bars are free to rotate.

Bar-Lock Advantages
Cut Labor Costs
- Quick and simple to install with standard tools; saves time and money
No Costly Bar-End Preparation
- Eliminates bar-end threading
- Bars can be shear cut, flame cut or saw cut
No Special Installation Equipoement Required
- Can be installed using an impact or hand wrench
- No heavy crimping equipment or threading devices
Speed
- Can be installed in minutes; cuts installation on job
Strong and Versatile
- Exceed industry strength requirements for tension, compression, and cyclic (seismic) loading
- Available for all bar sizes #3-#18 (10mm-57mm)
- Can be used when bars are fixed in position ("positional") as well as when bars are free to rotate (standard)
- Excellent for "rehab", retrofits, and new construction
